A mandated Hi fidelity simulation course specific to trainees at IMT 2 level. A step up from IMT 1 training related to IMT curriculum and training requirements. Places will be available to all trainees whilst on rotation at UHCW. Allows the opportunity to rehearse both technical and non-technical skills in acute medical situations in a safe non judgemental learning environment. Acute scenarios are designed to challenge your decision-making skills and non-technical/ human factor skills
IMT trainees are deanery funded to attend
This course may also be applicable to trained UHCW nursing staff working in an acute medical environment

Course Objectives:
To learn and demonstrate the essential clinical and non-technical skills when managing medical emergencies, and identify the need for escalation and referrals as appropriate for level of trainingTo employ effective communication strategies between patients, families and colleagues within multi-disciplinary teams. Deliver effective resuscitation management techniques in the acutely deteriorating patientPrompt accurate assessment and management of the acutely ill and/or deteriorating patient including those who are shocked or unconscious. Reflect on the non-technical skills/ human factors that may influence clinical management and discuss strategies to manage them (Closed loop communication, situational awareness, leadership, team management)
