Course Overview:
A High-Fidelity Simulation Course which focuses on the acutely ill and deteriorating medical patient. IMT Trainees will be given the opportunity to practice their clinical decision making skills and management options in acutely ill patient situations. This course is designed to help build candidates confidence and competence in a safe learning environment. All simulated scenarios are curriculum mapped to the IMT Stage 1 Training Programme.
Course Objectives:
Improve confidence and competence in managing acute medical illness and emergencies.Opportunity to practice management of stressful medical situations in a psychologically safe and non-judgemental learning environment.Build team management skills and task management within a team.Further develop and identify the non-technical skills which influence stressful situations in practice (leadership, clinical decision making, team management, situational awareness)Reflect on practice in post scenario debrief and consider strategies to help support candidates in clinical practice.
