FY2 Doctors on the National Foundation Training Programme UHCW Trained Nursing staff in Acute Medical settings
External FY2 Doctors or equivalent not on the Foundation Training Programme

Course Overview:

A Hi-fidelity Simulation Course recommended by the National Foundation Programme aimed at improving candidates’ confidence and competence in managing acutely ill medical patient situations. This course enhances practice of technical/non-technical skills in a safe, non-judgemental learning environment by participation in a variety of medical simulation training sessions. Sessions are designed to be specific to the training curriculum throughout clinical rotations at UHCW. Attendees are awarded core teaching hours towards ARCP.

Course Objectives:

  • To improve confidence and identify coping strategies with stress in managing acute medical illness situations
  • Practice clinical decision making in a simulated stressful environment
  • Reflect on practice during an open discussion of management decisions and treatment options and the non-technical skills that may impact on acute medical situations in a post-scenario debrief.
