Course Overview:

A recommendation of the National Foundation Training Programme supported by NHS England. This is a half day course focusing on Acute Illness management and the deteriorating patient. The scenarios are specifically chosen to adhere to Foundation Programme recommendations and Curriculum requirements.

This course enables candidates to practice both technical and non-technical skills in a variety of acute medical patient situations in a safe, non-judgemental environment.

This course count towards core teaching hours for ARCP. Foundation Year 1 Candidates are Deanery Funded to attend.

Course Objectives:

  • Improve on management skills of the acutely ill deteriorating patient
  • Learn and develop leadership skills in an acute medical situation.
  • Learn strategies to deal with challenging situations
  • Escalate appropriately to senior staff in a timely manner
  • Reflect on and discuss with debrief experts in a post scenario debrief
