All sessions are approved for 3.5 CPD credits from Royal College of Anaesthetists

Airway management skills are vital for all those involved in resuscitation and patient care, particularly so for all grades of anaesthetists. Advanced airway management skills are essential to manage an unanticipated difficult airway. There are certain skills, which have longer learning curve due to the psychomotor skills and dexterity of manoeuvre involved in those skills. In order to retain these skills regular practice on manikins in the laboratory set up is essential.

In view of addressing above issues and improving safety in airway management, we have developed a structured airway management-training programme. The training sessions will take place in the purpose built Coventry airway-training lab. The airway lab is equipped with airway training manikins, Dexter endoscopy trainer, Oxford box, ORSIM, five fibreoptic scopes with video-camera system, videolaryngoscopes (Airtraq, C-Mac, C-Trach, Venner APA, McGrath, King vision, Glidescope and Pentax AWS), Venue 40 GE Ultrasound machine, Cricothyrotomy devices and manikins and one SimMan simulator.

These sessions are open for all grades of anaesthetists (trainees, consultants and NCCGs in anaesthesia). For each session a maximum of six delegates can sign in. Although there is a scheduled training programme, the workshops and lectures on the day can be flexible based on the request from delegates. Additional sessions can be arranged on request.
